BrickGeekz Review of Lego Modular set 10255 Assembly Square & More!

HEY BrickGeekz!
Another week and another blog - this time on the huge and beautiful Lego Modular set 10255 Assembly Square.

4002 pieces
35 cm high
34 internal bags over 6 bag numbers
1 huge manual
no stickers
9 minifigs

I am a huge modular fan, this revitalized my love for LEGO, brought me into the adult world of LEGO... and this set is just truly amazing - and strengthens this amazing line of sets.
I am lucky to be able to this review being able to base them on previous modular's right the way back 10 years to the first modular building Cafe corner and if you have seen cafe corner, though the birth of the modular's - the first in the line, it lacked any interior, so basically it has nothing inside non of the internal intricacies that make us love these sets but externally it still remains as one of the best looking sets and very distinctive. Okay, so 10 years later what has changed besides the obvious look of the buildings :

Well i can tell you this building is fantastic and its huge, it also celebrates 10 years of LEGOS' glorious modular line...

There are 12 sets in the modular line -

Cafe corner
Market street
Green grocer
Palace cinema
Brick Bank
Detectives office
Parisian resteraunt
Fire station
Town hall
Shpping emporium
Pet shop
and now Assembly square!

I love them all , all of them unique and perfect for anyone in their quest to produce a LEGO city.

So, Assembly Square

It is 4002 pieces and retails at
£179.99 in the uk

Hold on ill say that again 4002 pieces .. that put it up there in the top 10 biggest sets  and its about time a modular was in there!

Every second of this build was a pleasure - and its not for the faint hearted
quitters ... this set deserves top shelf space and needs to be complete... as you can see it is labelled with the expert tag  ... though it does have 34 internal bags over 6 bag numbers ... you are inundated with countless amounts of minute pieces that makes this amazing set!

It is the size of a normal modular and a half ... so a huge flat plate and a half over three stories high

35 cm
slightly smaller than the town hall

As the build progresses you can see the intricacies that make up this set the flowers in the flower shop, the pieces of pie in the coffee shop and the cake shop is in a league of its own!

Just look at these pictures

Front of coffee shop lines with seats and tables

 Inside coffee shop

outside flower shop  - look at the roses

Harder to take this photo of inside the flower shop ..

can see the flower bunches on the wall, the till etc ...

I have to say the first bags took a while but then i was zooming through, the cake shop is just epic, the windows made out of sliding door panels that clip into a 1 x 1 claw ... very fidgety but in the end we have a look of old .... Almost Dickensian looking - the warm feel of a Victorian bakery, and of course at the front of the window a huge cake all pieced together

 Front of bakery

Plastic Cakes and patisseries line the shelves

Huge cake in shop window

Okay,  so first floor done 4 hours of build time and 1500 photos in ... i can see the base structure ... the coffee shop the cake shop and flower shop are all formed. so many little details like the cherry pie on the shelf or the huge cake in the shop windows.. which i may add the hardest part of the build- starting to get a sense of this build now - and its beauty!

LEGO takes me away when i build, take photos, do animation nothing makes me think of nothing more than the job at had ... other than LEGO ... let me tell you 10255 set doesn't disappoint, it has enough entertainment level to keep you wanting to build more - when you're at the end of one bag ... dang so much left to do ... then oh there's the flower shop best carry on :p  But it isn't easy do not be misguided by the huge 300 page manual that comes with it , or the huge amounts of minute pieces ;),

So what next ? ahhh the second floor... could it be better than the first, which  had left me looking at this set thinking WOW ....

Still amazed - an not knowing whats coming next i was exsctaic to see a dentists waiting room , with a chair and some obligatory magazines

followed by a dentists surgery complete with chair sink and even a needle --- oh that dreaded needle

The chair is only a very small build but the sky blue colour LEGO have used is great  and it raised up and down!

The internal spaces seem to have gotten bigger in this set more space to move and take shots - talking of taking shots , another great room in this building is dedicated to a photography room - old style camera and white background - simply amazing so well thought out and put together - this is one of the many many reasons why Lego is superb and so well incorporated into 10255

Then on the second floor off as if it wasn't enough we have a music store

bland as it looks it was a nice feature, with a drum kit in the window, acoustic guitar, sax.... great!

Felt like the brunt of the build was definitely in the first 2 bags as the sets now is starting to winding off into a much more pleasant built...

Final floor, floor 3 - this set is more wide than high and is 14500 pieces more than the LEGO modular town hall!

In the top floor the build has not got any of its intricacies it stays strong through-out and the flat above presumably for the mother and baby - funnily i was piecing together the miniature train set.. it comes on 2 tables i didn't have a clue what it was meant to be until i put the tables together --- and again was like wow!

The sofa in the flat is retractable which too is another awesome feature, cooker, shelves with miniature toys .. toilet - oddly no shower ???

Out door terrace on the top floor ... with ladder that goes up  onto the roof

THEN my favorite of the upper roof, the simplistic - dance room, the piano is just awesome.

LEGO have done it again their designs getting better, harder to put  together, larger sets for us afols. This set is quite simply amazing , stunning - interface i dare say as far as modular buildings go this is one of the best ... so many details and its a long build no five minute and i am done - this set needs sorting out right from the off.. pleasurable and entertaining all the way though but lack of shower ???

The fountain at the front of the building

recap over some external photos

PROS =  just amazing, huge, long build , not easy (gets easier), so many intricacies which give you a warm feeling!

Cons = Very few , no shower in apartment, flower shop though cool not easy for photos, price tag!

VERDICT  : 9.7 out of 10

SIMPLY SUPERB ...

DONT FORGET NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT STOP MOTION BUILD OF THIS SET -
